Horses are such beautiful, spiritual looking animals. So graceful, yet strong looking too. As a pet portrait artist I have painted many horses and ponies in pastel over the years. Head/neck paintings can be done in any of the sizes. But if you would like a full body portrait then a larger size is recommended. I recommended you remove head collars and bridles if you do not want them in the portrait, this gives a better vision of the bone structure and will make it more realistic.
